Electricity Drinking Game Rules
- Dealing Cards:
- The dealer hands out cards one at a time in a clockwise fashion. The pace is controlled by the dealer, emphasizing the flow rather than speed.
- Forming Connections:
- A “current” or connection is formed between the most recently dealt card and the cards to the immediate left and right if they match by:
- Suits (Hearts, Diamonds, Clubs, Spades)
- Numbers (2-10)
- Face Cards (Jack, Queen, King, Ace)
- If a connection is made, the connected players drink according to the value on their most recently dealt card (2 for two drinks, 3 for three, etc., up to 14 for an Ace).
- A “current” or connection is formed between the most recently dealt card and the cards to the immediate left and right if they match by:
- Continuing Connections:
- The player who formed a connection then checks for a possible connection with the player on the opposite side. This continues until no further connections are made.
- Counting Drinks:
- Players who are not connected count out the drinks for those who are, alternating between them in sequence.
Alternate Rules for Extended Play
- Connections Based on Sequences:
- Only number sequences and picture card sequences form connections.
- Players sip their beer with each connected card, continuing until the sequence breaks.
- Special Rules for Doubles and Sequences:
- Doubles (e.g., J-J or 7-7) lead to both players taking a shot.
- A sequence reaching 5 number cards or 4 picture cards prompts a shot for the player completing the sequence.
- An 8-card number sequence results in all connected players taking a shot, with another round at 16 cards.
- A complete picture sequence (J-Q-K-A) results in a shot for all connected players.
- Joker Rule:
- When a Joker is dealt, all players in the current connection take a shot. The connection continues beyond the Joker.
Safety
- Drink Responsibly: Given the potential for rapid and significant alcohol consumption, it’s crucial for players to monitor their intake and stay within their limits.
- Non-Alcoholic Options: Include non-alcoholic beverages to ensure that all players can participate comfortably.
